What is data logger calibration?

Data logger calibration at Labcal

Data logger calibration compares the temperature, and where fitted the humidity, recorded by a logger with traceable reference standards at controlled conditions. It shows how far the logged values are from the truth, which is what matters when those records are your evidence.

Loggers sit unattended in fridges, warehouses, vehicles and cleanrooms, building the record that proves product was kept in the right conditions. If the logger has drifted, every record it has made since is open to question.

Labcal calibrates temperature and combined temperature and humidity loggers. Temperature is calibrated across -30°C to +140°C, and humidity from 10% to 90% RH at +15°C to +40°C in our environmental chambers, under UKAS Lab 0625.

The record is the evidence

Every logged point, checked against the truth

We place your logger alongside our reference standards in a stable temperature source or environmental chamber, then compare what it records with what we measure at each point.

For combined loggers, temperature and humidity can be calibrated together in our chambers, so one certificate covers both channels.

How it works

From your bench to a UKAS certificate

01

Send it in

Courier your instruments to our Lymington laboratory, or ask us to arrange collection for larger batches.

02

Calibrated against the reference

Each channel is compared with our traceable reference standards at the temperatures and humidities you need.

03

Certificate back

A UKAS certificate with results and measurement uncertainty at every point. Average 7 working days, 3-day fast-track by arrangement.

Why it matters

Why logger calibration matters

GDP and GMP records you can defend

Storage and distribution records are only as credible as the logger that made them.

Both channels, one certificate

Temperature and humidity calibrated together for combined loggers.

Fleet-friendly turnaround

Average 7 working days, with a 3-day fast-track by arrangement, so you can rotate loggers without gaps.

Industries Served

Who needs data logger calibration?

Data loggers prove storage, transport and environmental conditions across regulated supply chains.

Accreditation

UKAS Lab 0625  ·  ISO/IEC 17025:2017

Labcal is independently accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service. Our UKAS data logger certificates are accepted by audit teams across regulated industries.

Common Questions

Questions about this calibration service

Straight answers to what quality managers and engineers ask most before sending instruments to Labcal.

What is data logger calibration?

Data logger calibration compares the values a logger records with traceable reference standards at controlled conditions. The certificate shows the error and measurement uncertainty at each point for each calibrated channel. UKAS accreditation means the laboratory has been independently assessed against ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Can you calibrate temperature and humidity on the same logger?

Yes. Combined loggers can be calibrated for humidity from 10% to 90% RH at +15°C to +40°C in our environmental chambers, and for temperature across our UKAS range, with both channels on the certificate.

Do you calibrate loggers with external probes?

Yes. Send the logger with its probes and we calibrate them together, so the certificate reflects the readings recorded in use. Label each probe with its channel so the results are easy to match.

How often should data loggers be calibrated?

Annual calibration is the common baseline for loggers used in GMP storage and GDP distribution. Some organisations calibrate more often for loggers in critical cold chain use, or after a logger has been dropped or exposed to extreme conditions.
