What is temperature calibration?
Temperature Calibration at Labcal
Temperature calibration is the process of comparing a temperature instrument’s readings against a traceable reference standard to establish the actual measurement error across the required range. Labcal performs temperature calibration within its ISO/IEC 17025 UKAS-accredited laboratory, providing certificates traceable to national measurement standards.
Labcal provides single and multi-point calibration and adjustment for temperature sensors, probes and instruments, including devices with fixed or handheld displays. Our service covers routine verification, compliance requirements and full adjustment where required.

Common Questions
Questions about temperature calibration
Answers to what quality managers and procurement teams ask most before choosing a UKAS calibration provider for temperature calibration.
What is UKAS temperature calibration?
A UKAS temperature calibration means your instrument has been calibrated by a laboratory accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The calibration provides traceable measurement results, including the measured temperature error and associated measurement uncertainty at each calibrated point.
What temperature range does Labcal calibrate to?
Labcal’s UKAS-accredited temperature calibration covers the range -30°C to +140°C. If your instrument requires calibration outside this range, contact us and we will advise on whether your requirement can be accommodated.
How often should temperature instruments be calibrated?
In pharmaceutical manufacturing (GMP), food production and medical device environments, calibration intervals are typically determined based on the criticality of the measurement, regulatory requirements and historical instrument performance. Annual calibration is commonly adopted for critical temperature instruments, although longer or shorter intervals may be appropriate depending on the application, usage and observed drift.
Does temperature calibration need to be UKAS-accredited for ISO 9001?
ISO 9001:2015 Clause 7.1.5 requires measurement equipment to be suitable for its intended purpose and, where appropriate, traceable to recognised measurement standards. UKAS-accredited calibration is commonly used to demonstrate measurement traceability and competence, although alternative traceability routes may also be acceptable if suitably justified.
What is the turnaround time for temperature calibration at Labcal?
Standard turnaround is 8 working days on average from receipt of instruments at our Lymington laboratory, depending on the instrument type and calibration requirements. A 3-day fast-track service is available by arrangement for urgent requirements. Turnaround time begins when instruments arrive at the lab. Contact us in advance if you have a deadline and we will advise on whether fast-track can be accommodated.
All six parameters. One accredited lab.
No need to split your calibration programme across multiple providers. Labcal holds UKAS accreditation across all six parameters under one laboratory number.
