Public sector questions
What local government and public sector teams ask us
Practical answers for procurement officers, environmental health officers and quality leads at councils, NHS Trusts, utilities and government departments.
How does procurement work with a council or NHS PO?
We set up a supplier account on your system, quote against your PO or tender process, then invoice on completion with all the documentation your finance team needs. E-invoicing is supported. For repeat work, most public sector customers set up a standing PO to reduce admin.
Do you work with smaller district councils as well as large authorities?
Yes. We handle everything from individual instruments for small environmental health teams up to multi-department calibration for large unitary authorities and NHS Trusts. Pricing is per-instrument, so smaller authorities aren’t penalised on cost per calibration.
Can I switch to Labcal from my current calibration lab?
Yes, and it’s straightforward. Send us your most recent calibration certificate and we’ll quote a like-for-like service matching your existing scope, parameters and tolerances. No retraining for your quality team, no changes to your audit evidence, and no switching cost. Around half of the quality managers who enquire with Labcal are moving from another provider.
How long does calibration take?
Average turnaround is 8 working days from receipt of instruments at our Lymington laboratory. A 3-day fast-track service is available by arrangement for urgent requirements. Turnaround time begins when instruments arrive at the lab. We can arrange courier collection for high-volume or regular customers.
