Subcontracting questions
What testing houses ask before subcontracting to us
Practical answers for lab managers, operations directors and procurement teams at testing and calibration houses evaluating Labcal as a subcontract partner.
How does subcontracting work if I’m a UKAS-accredited testing house myself?
You remain the customer-facing supplier. We quote you directly, issue a Labcal UKAS certificate in the end customer’s name (or yours, depending on preference), and coordinate logistics. Your customer sees that the work was done by a UKAS lab, which is the accreditation point that matters for their audit.
Will Labcal’s name appear on the certificate issued to my customer?
Yes. UKAS certificates must identify the laboratory that performed the calibration, so our Lab 0625 accreditation will be on the document. We don’t white-label UKAS work because that would breach ISO/IEC 17025. Most end customers see an additional UKAS lab as a positive: it means their certificate is independently accredited rather than internal.
Can I switch to Labcal from my current calibration lab?
Yes, and it’s straightforward. Send us your most recent calibration certificate and we’ll quote a like-for-like service matching your existing scope, parameters and tolerances. No retraining for your quality team, no changes to your audit evidence, and no switching cost. Around half of the quality managers who enquire with Labcal are moving from another provider.
How long does calibration take?
Average turnaround is 8 working days from receipt of instruments at our Lymington laboratory. A 3-day fast-track service is available by arrangement for urgent requirements. Turnaround time begins when instruments arrive at the lab. We can arrange courier collection for high-volume or regular customers.
