What is humidity probe calibration?
Humidity probe and hygrometer calibration at Labcal
Humidity probe calibration compares the relative humidity reading of a probe, hygrometer or transmitter with traceable reference standards inside a controlled environmental chamber. The certificate shows the actual error at each humidity point, so you can trust the conditions you record.
Humidity sensors age faster than most instruments. Contamination, condensation and chemical exposure all change the sensor, and drift of a few percent RH between calibrations is common. In cleanrooms, stability chambers and storage areas, that drift decides whether you are in or out of specification.
Labcal calibrates humidity probes, hygrometers and transmitters from 10% to 90% RH at +15°C to +40°C, and 15% to 90% RH between +10°C and +15°C. Built-in temperature sensors can be calibrated in the same chamber from -5°C to +60°C.

Holding the air still enough to measure it
Humidity cannot be applied like a pressure or a voltage. It has to be generated and held steady in a chamber, with temperature controlled at the same time, before any comparison means anything.
Your probe sits in the chamber with our reference standards while we step through the humidity points you need, and temperature can be calibrated in the same run.

Common Questions
Questions about this calibration service
Straight answers to what quality managers and engineers ask most before sending instruments to Labcal.
What is humidity probe calibration?
Humidity probe calibration compares a probe’s relative humidity reading with traceable reference standards inside a controlled environmental chamber. The certificate records the error and measurement uncertainty at each humidity point. UKAS accreditation means the laboratory has been independently assessed against ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
What humidity range do you calibrate?
Our UKAS-accredited humidity calibration covers 10% to 90% RH at temperatures from +15°C to +40°C, and 15% to 90% RH between +10°C and +15°C. If you need points outside that range, contact us and we will advise.
Can you calibrate the temperature sensor in my humidity probe too?
Yes. Temperature sensors built into humidity instruments can be calibrated in our environmental chambers from -5°C to +60°C, usually in the same run as the humidity points.
How often should humidity probes be calibrated?
Annual calibration is common in GMP, cleanroom and HVAC applications. Because humidity sensors can drift faster than many instruments, some users calibrate critical probes every six months, based on drift seen in previous certificates.
